Students
Study Abroad
Students at LCP automatically become members of LISU, London Institute
Students Union, which organises social events, societies and sports
clubs, as well as providing you with student representation if needed;
have access to the libraries and open access computer facilities
within the London Institute's many sites; join other international
students who are participating in the Study Abroad programme, as
well as those that are studying full-time at LCP; have access to
the London Institute's Student Services, which provides professional
assistance and guidance including disability support, accommodation
advice, counseling and a careers service.
Before You
Apply
You should ensure
that the course syllabus offered is recognised by your home institution.
You will need to speak to your Programme Leader in the first instance
to seek their advice on course suitability and course work, and
will also need to secure their written approval. On request we can
forward a Course Handbook to your Programme Leader which describes
the structure, content, learning objectives and assessment criteria
for your course.
Living Costs
We recommend
that you budget for £750 - £1,000 per month for living costs and
day-to-day expenses whilst in London. This figure should cover rent,
food, travel, study materials and your 'going out' money.
Working
As a student
you are eligible to work up to 20 hours per week if you are studying
for longer than six months. The London Institute Careers Service
publishes a useful jobs online section each week. This gives details
of many part-time and vacation jobs that London Institute students
can apply for. In addition there are many local papers and recruitment
agencies which regularly publish vacancies.
Financial
Aid
You may be eligible
for federal loans or financial support within your home institution.
To find out more, you will need to discuss this with your Study
Abroad Officers. Unfortunately the London Institute does not offer
scholarships for Study Abroad Programmes.
Accommodation
If you are offered
a place on a Study Abroad Programme you can apply and book a place
in one of the Halls of Residence or apartments managed by the London
Institute. Please note places are limited and very popular, so early
application is advisable.
Getting There
The main site
of LCP is well situated just three minutes walk from the Elephant
and Castle underground station on the Bakerloo and the Northern
lines. All of Central London is easily accessible from this transport
hub. The Back Hill site is near to Farringdon and Chancery Lane
underground stations. See locations.
