Developing Skills in Photography.


Aims

You will be introduced to the language of the medium: its origins, development and current status, and encouraged to develop your understanding and practical skill in the creative use of photographic printing and picture-making. You will study 35mm camera handling and use of controls, as well as basic black-and-white darkroom skills.

Suitability

This intensive course will appeal, if you need to establish self-confidence and develop basic technical and manipulative skills in photography. You do not need to demonstrate any prior aptitude or knowledge, although you will need to demonstrate a willingness to learn and explore the medium.

bullet.JPG (4122 bytes) correct use of photographic chemicals in the darkroom environment

bullet.JPG (4122 bytes) use of standard 35mm single-lens-reflex cameras and camera accessories

bullet.JPG (4122 bytes) processes and uses of a range of black-and-white film types

bullet.JPG (4122 bytes) principles of photographic printing processes to produce competent contact printing and enlargements of black-and-white prints

Places are offered after successful interview with the Course Leader.
