Aims
This intensive five-day course will provide you with all the skills needed for effective sub-editing, and will help to strengthen your confidence in editing. You will analyse newspapers and magazines, consider the construction of copy, ethics and new technology, as well as the publishing industry and careers. Networking plays an important part
of this course and there will be lots of opportunities for discussions with tutors and colleagues to share good practice and common pitfalls.
Suitability
If you work in an editorial role or as a freelance journalist, or if your work involves the production of printed material and you wish to add to your skills or to pursue a different career path. This course concentrates on varied and detailed practical work, including the editing and presentation of delegates own material which should be submitted. In addition, the course will work towards planning typical newspaper and magazine pages and web-site content and look at live examples of the sub-editing craft.
