On-line Journalism

Aims

You will discover a new way of working as a journalist. We will train you to research and publish stories on-line with an introduction to the necessary computer software skills. We will guide you through the processes of producing interactive audio/visual non-linear narratives for a Web-based newsroom. You will gain an overview of the impact of new technologies on the practice of journalism and the technical, legal and design issues associated with electronic publishing.

Suitability

On-line journalism is a developing area. If you want to become one of the first generation of multi-skilled journalists in demand by mainstream media, able to utilise sound, video, photography and text within the same presentation of a story, this course will give you a head start. It will appeal to you if you are new to journalism, or if you have experience of writing for print, radio or TV. You should have a good level of spoken English and awareness of current affairs, as well as a basic level of computer literacy.
