Aims
You will build on existing skills, from traditional craft techniques to the latest digital methods, in one of the following specialist fields: fashion, editorial, advertising or reportage photography. Students will be expected to nominate an area of practise to specialise in during this course, and you will cover the process from concept to image through
technique. You will learn about contemporary professional photography and setting up as a freelance photographer in an increasingly competitive marketplace. A personal tutor will be assigned to visit you at various points during the course to guide and check your progress on briefs and aspects of portfolio building.
Suitability
You will need to demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of a particular genre of photography, coupled with a high technical proficiency with specialist camera equipment, as well as an ability to use Adobe Photoshop autonomously in the production of digitised photographic images. Attendance of previous courses would not be a pre-requisite for those who have completed other courses or who have industrial experience.
